interesting write-up here about future weather predictions:

http://forums.accuweather.com/index.php?showtopic=13603

while reading that, i noted this of particular interest:

"Recent measurements by NASA show a direct correlation to the Sun's minimum to cooler global temperatures. The opposite of what has been forecasted by man-made global warming advocates.

I have continued to state that the causes of all climate change is astronomical - global warming and global cooling - and is solar-forced."

the main gist of this meteorologist's predictions is that we're in for a wild climate period. funny how global warming activists are now stating it's not global warming after all, but rather climate change that man is causing. it's like they see the forecast for tomorrow, and then claim man caused that forecast.  pretty embarrassing, but just about everything global warming/climate change activists claim these days is embarrassing. I'm just glad Al Gore is being proven to be the buffoon I always knew him to be. And more proof that Cap N'Tax is a power play by the govt, nothing more.

this is what i do when it blows for 2 straight months out of the west while living on an east-facing beach.

Well I may not be kiting, but I did scout out the new apres kite hangout. The all-new Land Ho in Harwich. Mike Welch works the bar there, so should be some good kite talk. I'm envisioning the Friday downwinders followed by a visit to the Ho. Very nice !

Happy March.

Kited with Shook at Gaypin on Sunday. Where was everyone? I thought that place was kite central? Huh May have had something to do with the sleet coming down while we were out. Gusting to 30mph when we were out. Nice!!!

Land-ho in Harwich the new Iso-bar. I think that could work. Grin

Three days of snow and none on the ground?
I guess it is the silver lining in a week of really bad weather.
Spring is coming for the weekend.
Looks like some SUP potential for Sunday.
The other good news is the NE wind is improving the water temps along the outer coast.
Looking forward to a warmer wind flow.
Also hoping for some March Horseneck action.

Still snowing!!! Starting to pile up this morning. I have a half inch in my yard.
Whitey went to Block Island in October when we were there!!! Glad to see he stays off the Hatteras Coast and did not venture in to close.

Sounds great except I'm sitting at the Cove hoping the east/rain goes off shore and the wind goes SE.  Didn't see Whitey here, never have think they prolly like the menu better in the nearby gulf stream but did see a BIG whale the other day in the deeper water off Izzables Inlet.

Wednesday was 65 and SW 20+ no gloves or hood.  Rode Dimitri's  EPIC Screamer 12 on Saturday for a few hours on flat water.  Really nice kite, lots of boost and hang time.  Kite was really well behaved when I was flying in the air.  No unplanned turns, very responsive but not twitchy.  Easy to loop.  This kite is well, if you've ever watched Dimitri kite this is the kite he'd want.  The kite really likes to go high and there you're still in command.  As an all around kite I don't think you can go wrong.  The 12 had normal bar press at 25 knots after that it might get big.  Didn't check it in waves but I dont think it would shine there being limited by its "pull".   I've been riding a Renegade 11 in the waves and its much more at home there.  Both kites have great range and ride "bigger" than they are.

Oh yeah.  How big were the waves?
Here's a pic of pieces of the Avon Pier ripped loose

Hey Peter, would love to join you but I have to work tomorrow morning after 10 days off, just returning from Jay Peak. Missed the big wind so far but it did not miss my house, tearing off shingles on the roof to expose bare wood and sending a gallon of water through another leak..............

I am hoping to kite North shore, Sandy Neck or Chapin tomorrow starting about 4:30pm, anyone interested?

hey PK, JE, Shook,
did anyone else see that porpoise yesterday at WC beach?  Shocked He was a little guy. Funny thing is I just got a call from the Stranding Network about a stranded porpoise there. They already scooped him up and are heading to P-Town to release him (yay!).  Cheesy

JE, speaking for all Barnstable residents: 'STAY THE HELL OUT OF SANDY NECK!!!'

jimmyc, if i were a betting man, i'd say there was not a chance in hell you went out kiting this weekend.

Brian, if we didn't have west winds, we'd have no winds. worst winter ever down here.  i'm actually looking forward to returning to the NE so i can kite again.

Geoff, yes, you are a kook.

I did put the gear in the car and actually walked down to the water, but then decided against it. I should have gone yesterday, but didn't.

Can I ask why people keep babbling about SN? Weren't we all trying to keep that spot out of the limelight for...what....more than one-half of a season. Geez is nothing sacred any more? Why don't we just name it West Chapin to get ready for the number of kooks that will go there. Thanks?!  Huh

well, i'm a bit impressed you got that far. as for SN, it will never be a Chapin because you cannot kite there during the summer (ain't allowed, anymore than you can kite at Kalmus from 9-5),  and it really only works with ENE. sucks on any kind of NW. so i wouldn't worry about it. plus it tends to be much more rocky than other spots and hardly any beach at all at high tide. and at mid-to-low tide, Chapin is far superior with flats and waves. so i wouldn't worry about it (but promise never to mention it again...starting...now).

Happy almost spring!  Anyone headed to OBX, Southern Florida or anywhere else with guaranteed wind for an extended stay any time soon?
